AWC-SB presents Books for Breakfast, an informal summer discussion group of books that will help us become Better Communicators. Two events are taking place on July 14 and August 11 in downtown Santa Barbara. Meetings are open to AWC-SB members & non-members. No-host, you buy your own beverage/breakfast. No need to RSVP, just show up.
If you are not yet a member of AWCSB you can join now until May 21 and $50 registration fee will be waived for Executive, Professional, and Entrepreneur members. AWCSB helps local communicators stay at the top of their game with presentations on important developments in the technology, practice, psychology, and ethics of communications.
Winston Churchill is quoted as saying, “A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.” Fake news, alternative facts, or just misleading memes—there is so much information coming at us all the time, it’s easy to lose track of what is truly, well… true. On Wednesday, April 7, AWC-SB members and guests gathered via Zoom for our monthly meeting and an eye-opening presentation by Starshine Roshell, “Truth Decay—The Battle to Prevent Lies and Misinformation from Overwhelming Reality.” Justine Sutton has a recap of this popular event.
Inspired by Amanda Gorman’s electrifying poem at Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ inauguration, AWC-SB’s March monthly meeting/presentation was on poetry—what it can teach us as communicators, and how it can infuse our work with new energy. Wednesday, March 3, members and guests gathered via Zoom for the meeting, always a good chance for connecting, networking, and learning!
