AWC-SB September 2024 Event Recap
From Wine Glass to Career Path with Jamie Knee
Jamie Knee of Petite Wine Traveler, a global wine educator based in Santa Barbara, gave a fun and informative presentation at the AWC-SB fall season kickoff on September 11 at WorkZones. She shared how she turned her passion for wine into her career as attendees enjoyed a tasting featuring two delicious wines donated by Brander Vineyard.
Jamie touched upon wine history, the artistry of wine making, and how to get the most out of tasting: see, swirl, sniff, and sip. She also covered many of the characteristics of wine, and the differences found among varietals grown in our region.
“Wine is alive,” Jamie explained. “When tasting, we think of where it was grown, the climate and soil, and how it was made.” She emphasized that wine, like food, brings people together. It’s intertwined with history, culinary experiences, and conviviality.
After Jamie’s presentation, the audience gathered into small groups to talk about their own passions and ways they can share them with the world. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event a success!
