AWC-SB hosted their annual holiday party on Wednesday, December 4 at Municipal Winemakers in the Funk Zone. Members and friends came together to celebrate the holidays, enjoy delicious cuisine catered by Marmalade Cafe and honor the association’s Nonprofit of the Year, Storyteller Children’s Center, and AWC-SB Member of the Year, Lisa Angle.
Storyteller Children’s Center is a local nonprofit organization that provides superior, tuition-free early childhood education for homeless and at-risk children, as well as comprehensive support services for their families. Executive Director, Terri Allison accepted the award for the nonprofit, sharing a heartwarming story about one child and his family from the center. This child, with the assistance of Storyteller Children’s Center, is now able to read at his age level and has continued to perform successfully in school. In honor of the organization’s cause, AWC-SB collected children’s books from attendees of the event to fill Santa’s bag for his visit to the center.
Lisa Angle, AWC-SB Member of the Year, founded Ninety Degrees Media and works as a freelance webmaster, videographer, social media coach, and writer. Lisa is also an AWC-SB board member and has worked on the awcsb.org website, AWC-SB e-newsletter, and videos of the association’s program meetings. She also participates on the AWC national Professional Development committee. In accepting the award, Lisa demonstrated her great storytelling skills and shared with the group her story of how Ninety Degrees Media came to be. Full of passion, creativity, and courage, Lisa is a motivational and critical member of AWC-SB.
The association was delighted to honor both Storyteller Children’s Center and Lisa Angle for their exceptional work and powerful contributions to the local community. Members and friends at the event were filled with holiday spirit as they celebrated the honorees and listened to their inspiring stories. The event was truly a magical way to kick off the holidays and bring in the New Year.
