BACK IN ACTION WITH AWC-SB

Greetings, Members and Subscribers,

The Association for Women in Communications Santa Barbara Board of Directors recently spent a full day together planning a new season of relevant, engaging programs for our members and community. We came away energized by what’s ahead and, most importantly, focused on how AWC-SB can continue to be a meaningful professional community for all of you.

Please mark your calendars for our upcoming member meetings on Wednesday, October 14 and Wednesday, November 11, followed by our annual Holiday Party on Wednesday, December 9.

We hope you’ll make a point of connecting with this community in the year ahead. We always welcome your ideas and feedback. AWC-SB is here to serve you—creating opportunities for networking and professional development, while bringing together smart, interesting people for conversations that inform, educate and inspire.

We’ll open the season in October with a particularly timely topic: Crisis Communications. Accomplished Santa Barbara professionals will take us behind the scenes to share how information and decisions move during a crisis, how agencies and communicators coordinate, how to communicate responsibly when information is changing quickly, and what they’ve learned from navigating very different kinds of crises. Details are coming soon.

In November, we’ll hear from one of Santa Barbara’s outstanding women leaders in communications and media, sharing lessons from a long and accomplished career: how to navigate change, remain flexible, recognize opportunity and understand the essential connection between strong leadership and strong communication.

And in December, we’ll gather for one of our favorite traditions, the AWC-SB Holiday Party—a chance to celebrate our members, recognize our leadership and announce our Women of Achievement Award honorees, whom we’ll celebrate in 2027.

We value each and every one of you and what you contribute to our professional community and to Santa Barbara. On behalf of the entire Board, I hope you’ll join us, reconnect with colleagues, meet someone new and be part of what we’re building together.

Most sincerely,

Ana Papakhian
President, AWC-SB
