We are happy to announce this year’s AWC-SB Women of Achievement luncheon honorees: Starshine Roshell and Lynda Weinman who were selected because of their extraordinary achievements and contributions to the areas of written communication and technology.

Lynda Weinman is the co-founder and Executive Chair of lynda.com, one of the largest online education companies in the world, based in Carpinteria, CA. Started in 1997 and ranked 12th fastest growing company in education by Inc. Magazine in 2010, lynda.com has gained national and international recognition as a top resource for online learning. A best-selling author (she wrote the first industry book on web design, Designing Web Graphics, in 1995), Lynda has consulted for Adobe, Macromedia, and Microsoft, and conducted workshops at Disney. She has been a keynote speaker, moderator, and lecturer at numerous design, animation, web design, and computer-graphics conferences.

Starshine Roshell is an award-winning journalist, nationally syndicated columnist and the author of two books, Keep Your Skirt On and Wife on the Edge. Her syndicated column, which appears weekly in the Independent, won a first-place award from the California Newspaper Publisher’s Association, and she has a second-place CNPA award for Business/Financial reporting. Her work has appeared in The Hollywood Reporter, New York Post and Roanoke Times, as well as Westways, Miller-McCune and Hybrid Mom magazines. Starshine teaches creative nonfiction writing at Santa Barbara City College and UCSB Extension.
