Raise a glass and exhale. Please join us at our annual holiday party as we gather to enjoy good company and celebrate the accomplishments of some exceptional local communicators. Our annual Holiday Party is a beloved AWC-SB tradition. This year, we are planning activities, games and surprises to make it special on Zoom. Register in advance to receive the Zoom link.
On Wednesday, November 4th, AWC-SB members and guests met via Zoom for the monthly event that always presents valuable information as well as networking and camaraderie. While doing our best to suspend our collective breath-holding over election results (though updates were posted in the chat from time to time), we came together for How to Create a Sizzle Reel that Really Sizzles.
On Wednesday, October 7, about 40 AWC-SB members and guests assembled via Zoom for a fascinating and comprehensive presentation, Solutions Journalism: Breaking the Fear-Based News Cycle, with Giana Magnoli of Noozhawk and Michelle Faust Raghavan of Solutions Journalism Network. Even up against the Vice Presidential debate on TV, it was wonderful to see the impressive turnout for this monthly gathering.
A sizzle reel is a brief video that brings attention to something you want to promote–your work, an event, or a public relations campaign. Thanks to today’s technology, you don’t have to be a media pro to create this highly effective form of communication. On November 4th, AWC-SB board member Erica Schweitzer will outline the essential ingredients for a memorable sizzle video. She’ll showcase some exceptional sizzle reels. And she’ll introduce you to her favorite free and low-cost tools. To get the most out of the evening, think about something you’d like to promote. By the time the evening is over, you’ll have fresh ideas about a powerful new way to make an impression on the audience you want to reach.
Solutions Journalism, a rigorous, evidence-based approach to reporting, goes beyond sky-is-falling headlines to showcase innovative ways people are solving serious problems. Learn how to write and identify stories to present through a solutions journalism-lens with Giana Magnoli and Michelle Faust Raghavan.
Per executive coach Patricia R. Schwartz, the Emotional Immunity Experience is a self-directed state of enhanced immunity from your own and others’ reactivity… via the experience of your own positive feelings. Each time we have a pleasurable feeling from an action, the brain releases dopamine, which in the future will create a positive association with that action.
Feeling cut off from your customary sources of inspiration and support? Join AWC-SB for our September 9 networking meeting! Patricia Schwartz, MA, PCC will lead us through activities that will help us replenish our inner resources by reminding us of our strengths and the stories that have meaning for us.
“Words matter.” That tagline could be a mantra for AWC-SB members. It also appears on Nonviolent Communication, the August selection for AWCSB’s popular Books for Breakfast event. This classic book by Marshall Rosenberg promises to help readers “find common ground with anyone, anywhere, at any time, both personally and professionally.” Nothing could be more timely—or more relevant to professional communicators!
