Schwartz, the Emotional Immunity Experience is a self-directed state of enhanced immunity from your own and others’ reactivity… via the experience of your own positive feelings. Each time we have a pleasurable feeling from an action, the brain releases dopamine, which in the future will create a positive association with that action.

“Words matter.” That tagline could be a mantra for AWC-SB members. It also appears on Nonviolent Communication, the August selection for AWCSB’s popular Books for Breakfast event. This classic book by Marshall Rosenberg promises to help readers “find common ground with anyone, anywhere, at any time, both personally and professionally.”  Nothing could be more timely—or more relevant to professional communicators!

As we all know, the only constant in life is change, and these days change is not just constant but seemingly on overdrive. AWC-SB members and non-members gathered via Zoom Wednesday evening for “Managing Change,” this month’s presentation by three women professionals in our community.

On Wednesday, June 10, 5:30PM, Join friends and colleagues for a Zoom session featuring local leaders who will offer insight into how local organizations are responding to the uncertainty created by COVID19.  We’ll also have break out rooms so you can share experiences and insights into how you are managing change in your professional and personal life.

Learn the best practices to help you make the most of LinkedIn. Find out how to build a profile that tells your professional story, and discover new ways LinkedIn connects you with opportunity. Rae Hoyt, manager of content production for technology courses at the LinkedIn Learning office in Carpinteria, leads this hands-on workshop. Bring your phone or laptop to follow along and strengthen your profile on the spot.

Update About AWC-SB Events

We want to update you about AWC-SB events. We canceled our April 1 meeting but plan to host “Rock Your Linked In Profile” on May 6. At this point it seems likely that meeting will happen virtually. More details to follow. The AWC-SB board decided to reschedule the Women of Achievement event honoring Barbara Ben-Horin and Luz Reyes-Martin for Friday, October 23. Both of these women continue to perform heroic work on behalf of our community during this crisis. We look forward to celebrating their accomplishments in the fall.
